BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Our pledge:
At TravelHouse Africa we will match our terms with the terms of each supplier within an itinerary up until 30 days prior to travel and that we will not simply standardise our terms by charging an inflexible set non-refundable deposit. Furthermore, we will endeavour to provide complete transparency in this regard.
On Confirmation:
To confirm your booking and secure your space, TravelHouse Africa requires a 30% deposit. Without a deposit, the reservation will not be made with our service suppliers.
The balance of payment is due by 60 days prior to the commencement of your itinerary.
Bookings made within 60 days prior to departure are subject to 100% prepayment at the time of confirming the reservation.
* Some exceptions may apply to the required deposit percentage as certain suppliers (some safari lodges) may require a higher deposit. This also applies to bookings made over high demand periods such as Easter or the Festive Season (Dec/Jan). Your deposit will be adjusted accordingly.
Payment :
TravelHouse Africa invoices clients in the separate currencies that are charged by our suppliers (ZAR, USD, EUR).
The quoted approximate total in your home currency is an estimated total which will fluctuate slightly from day to day as the rate of exchange fluctuates. The separate currency amounts of course remain the same.
We partner with FLYWIRE, one of the world’s largest payment providers and are able to seamlessly accept credit card payments and bank transfers from over 135 countries. You will find details for payment on your invoice.
Flights:
Please note that should TravelHouse Africa book flights on behalf of the client, payment is preferred by credit card to avoid a delay in funds clearing. Flight costs and seat availability can only be confirmed once payment is received by us. If payment is made by EFT, the availability and tariff can only be guaranteed once the funds have cleared in our account.
In addition to this, when booking flights with TravelHouse Africa, we require a copy of all passengers’ passports. Airlines require the full names of passengers as printed on the passports and will not accept changes once tickets are issued. TravelHouse Africa accepts no responsibility for incorrect passport numbers or incorrect spelling of full names if passport copies are not provided.
In the instance where an airline is grounded for whatever reason, while TravelHouse Africa will facilitate the booking of new flights, they are not responsible for the settlement of these new flight requirements. Full payment for the new flight may be required while we submit your existing flights for refund or supply the required documentation for an insurance claim.
Rebooking Service:
Moving your confirmed booking to a future date rather than cancelling outright is often the most cost-effective way of handling deferred travel arrangements. For your increased booking confidence and comfort, we will happily rebook holiday arrangements up until 60 days prior to your original travel date at no cost (subject to availability). Any supplier costs incurred due to the change in date will be applied to your invoice. Additional costs could apply due to rate differences due to seasonality, new fare classes on flights or upgrades to your accommodation, will still apply.
Cancellation:
For cancellations more than to 30 days prior to travel – A minimal admin fee of ZAR 5000 will be levied by THA and additional, any individual supplier fees as per their terms and conditions
Cancellation less than 30 days prior to travel - 100% of the total cost is forfeited
Passports & Visas:
Please note that most destinations in Africa will require travellers to have a minimum of two consecutive blank “visa” pages in their passport which lie side by side when the passport is open (i.e. a left- and a right-hand page). Depending on the amount of border crossings within your itinerary, you may require more. Passports will also need to be valid for no less than 6 months (or 30 days if visiting South Africa only) after the expiry of your intended visit. Passengers traveling to Africa with passports that do not comply with these requirements may be stopped from boarding the aircraft or risk deportation on arrival into Africa.
Requirements for visitor’s visas differ from country to country and the requirements are subject to change. Please make sure that you check visa requirements for every country you visit on a multi-destination itinerary and to ensure that you do not leave visa applications for the last minute if required to apply beforehand. Many countries do not issue visas on arrival and so if a visa is required and you arrive without one, immigration officials are obliged to deny entry. Many countries have an e-visa program these days which makes applying for visas more convenient depending on your nationality.
Insurance:
Your trip may still be a long way off but if you have not considered taking out travel insurance, we highly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance within 21 days of paying your deposit with us. Sufficient travel insurance cover for cancellation, curtailment or medical emergencies is absolutely essential in fully protecting your holiday investment.
If you have not done so, we recommend that you book comprehensive travel insurance before you leave home. In the event that you do not have your own insurer, we have a reliable company that we recommend called Global Rescue. Traveling with Children
A parent traveling with children without the other parent present, will need a letter of consent as well as a passport copy from the absent parent. The letter of consent must be certified by the police. All children traveling need a certified copy of their original birth certificate. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements as TravelHouse Africa cannot be held responsible for incorrect travel documentation or visa stipulations resulting in denied entry into your destination.
Extension of children’s passports
South Africa does not recognise extended or updated children’s passports. A new passport will need to be issued. Travellers with children with extended passports have been refused entry. This South African entry regulation applies to child passports from any country.
